The Riyadh High School Athletics Association has confirmed the 2026 finals will take place on August 15 at King Fahd International Stadium, drawing competitors from 48 public and private schools.
The event arrives at the start of the new academic year when students return from summer breaks and coaches finalize rosters following district-level qualifiers held in May and June. Riyadh schools have expanded their track programs this year to meet rising participation, with the finals serving as the main measuring point before national selection trials in September.
Coaches at Riyadh International School in the Olaya district have added twice-weekly speed sessions on the new synthetic track installed last spring along Tahlia Street. Nearby in Al Malaz, the Al Rajhi Sports Academy runs afternoon drills for students from King Abdulaziz School, using the 400-meter oval that hosted last year's regional relays. These two programs alone account for 62 athletes who advanced through the June heats held at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City.
Entry numbers show 214 boys and 98 girls registered for individual events, with the 100-meter dash and 1500-meter run drawing the largest fields. The association charges a 75 Saudi Riyal fee per athlete, collected by July 28 at the main office on King Fahd Road. Last season's finals attracted 312 total competitors and set three new meet records in the under-18 category.
Gates open at 7 a.m. on August 15 with the first heats scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Spectators can purchase day passes for 25 Saudi Riyals at the stadium box office or through the association's online portal. Schools without transport can arrange buses through the Riyadh Education Directorate, which has already booked 12 vehicles for teams from southern neighborhoods.
Coaches advise athletes to submit final medical forms by July 20 and to use the open training slots at King Fahd Stadium on weekday evenings. The association will release lane assignments and heat sheets on August 10 through its website and school notice boards.
