Things to Do in Riyadh This Weekend: July 11-12

If you haven't made plans for this weekend yet, it's not too late. Riyadh is serving up at least a dozen events across the city between tonight and Sunday night, and most of them are still taking walk-ins.

The city’s entertainment calendar for July 11-12 reflects a broader push to keep residents active despite the summer heat. With indoor venues air-conditioned to a crisp 18°C and evening events starting after 7 p.m., organisers are making it possible to explore without melting. The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has scheduled more than 30 licensed events across the capital this month, according to its July programming list posted on the Tazkarta platform.

Music, Markets and a Night at the Museum

Head to Boulevard World on King Salman Road tonight at 8 p.m. for “Sama7t”, a live concert by Saudi singer Rabeh Saqer. Tickets are still available on Tazkarta for SAR 150 general admission. The venue’s capacity is capped at 5,000 for indoor shows, so early arrival is advised. Parking fills by 7:30 p.m. on concert nights, according to the Boulevard World guest-services team.

For a quieter evening, the Al Bujairi Heritage Night Market in Diriyah is open until 1 a.m. on Saturday. Twenty-five local artisans are selling pottery, woven textiles and camel-leather goods this week, with prices starting at SAR 40 for small hand-painted bowls. The market is set up along the Bujairi Terrace walkway, a 15-minute walk from the Diriyah Gate parking lot. Entry is free. A shawarma platter at one of the market’s pop-up stalls costs SAR 35.

Also on Saturday, the National Museum in the Murabba neighbourhood is extending its hours until 10 p.m. for the “Saudi Crossroads” exhibition. It features 200 artefacts from the Al Saud dynasty, including a 1926 letter from King Abdulaziz to the Ottoman governor of Basra. Admission is SAR 50 for adults; children under 12 get in free. Museum staff confirmed on Friday that no advance booking is required for the extended hours.

Desert Safaris and a Late-Night E-Sports Watch Party

If you’re willing to drive 45 minutes north of the city, the Edge of the World campsite near Ushaiger is running night safaris this weekend. The trip includes a guided 3-km walk along the Tuwaiq Escarpment, hot drinks and a campfire dinner. The operator, Desert Adventures Riyadh, charges SAR 250 per person, which includes transport from the Al Rawabi pickup point. Bookings must be made by 4 p.m. on Saturday via their WhatsApp line. The company says participants should bring a jacket, temperatures at the escarpment drop to 22°C after midnight.

Back in the city, the Gamers Den e-sports lounge in Al Malaz is hosting a free watch party for the League of Legends World Championship qualifying matches from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. The venue has 40 gaming stations and a 6-metre projector screen. The lounge’s coffee bar is open all night, serving karak chai for SAR 12 and Arabic coffee for SAR 15.

For those who prefer a structured weekend: Saturday’s main events end by midnight. Sunday is the start of the working week, but the Al Bujairi market and the e-sports lounge both stay open into the early hours. Plan your route using a ride-hailing app, Uber estimates a trip from Al Malaz to Diriyah at SAR 45 on a Saturday evening. Parking remains the biggest headache at Boulevard World, so the Tazkarta team recommends using the drop-off zone on King Salman Road or the shuttle from the Al Khuzama parking lot, which runs every 15 minutes from 6 p.m.
